Other than the microwave function, the Panasonic oven that we received also has Oven function – that means we can bake, roast meat, grill meat, and do many more stuff! I decided to try out baked rice (actually the hubby requested beef lasagne, but I think my back will break, so I said no lol), since we didn’t try doing baked rice at all before. Baked Rice (Recipe Adapted from NoobCook) – Serves 3Ingredients:– 1 cup uncooked rice, washed– Water to cook rice– 20g to 30g butter – 5 garlic cloves– 1 carrot, peeled and sliced– 1/2 small canned mushroom,… Read More
Mango Mochi #OMYSBA2013
Finally had time to do this! As part of our “challenge” for the OMY Singapore Blog Awards (Best Cooking Blog), we were supposed to cook some dishes/tea time snack, using Panasonic kitchen equipment. I used the Panasonic microwave oven to do this Mango Mochi. You could add some mango essence into the mochi dough. I skipped that because I was trying to cut down on artificial flavouring. But the dough is a little bland. So you might want to try adding some mango flavour into the dough for better taste π It’s a simple, refreshing dessert (especially if the mangoes… Read More
MooJaa, Mookata Thai BBQ
Note: MooJaa has since closed. We were invited to MooJaa for dinner last Sunday π Was so thrilled to receive the email from Shaun, because I had been wanting to try out mookata. So it was an evening well spent with good food and with the hubby haha. I quite like the decor and layout of the restaurant. At least each table is spaced out reasonably, and I love the cushioned seats! Make BBQ-ing more comfortable haha! Pic Credit: MooJaa Classy black interior with splash of reds π Mookata means “pork skillet” in Thai, which refers to the special cooking… Read More
Going Through Your 1st Trimester
I think going through the first trimester, especially if it’s the first baby, is pretty exciting and joyous. For me, because I didn’t have a lot of experience, and I didn’t really announce my pregnancy very early on, I find myself worrying every now and then (because I didn’t know what to expect!).Probably because it wasn’t a smooth start for me, and it’s the most “fragile” period during the first trimester. ANNOUNCING THE GOOD NEWSI am not “ban tang” but I only managed to inform some close friends and my MIL that I was pregnant (about 5 weeks then). Because… Read More
Panasonic Cooking Workshop at Onaka Restaurant
Attended the Panasonic cooking workshop on Sunday at Onaka, along with the other finalists of the Best Cooking Blog under Singapore Blog Awards. It was really interesting to hear the chefs share “secret” info about food and microwave cooking. Thanks to Panasonic Singapore and Onaka, we were scheduled to learn modern cooking techniques using the microwave, blender and rice cooker. Not to mention wholesome ingredients that day, since Onaka focuses on eating healthily with natural and selected organic ingredients. I was a little late because church ended late. Thankfully they were only beginning to start the demo when I reached…. Read More
Spicy Chicken with Cashew Nuts
Had been cooking and bringing lunch to work recently. Healthier? Hahaha. Tried out this Spicy Chicken with Cashew Nut recipe from Rasa Malaysia, and it’s really good! No need to marinate the meat before hand, but still very tasty! I like the taste because lately I like to eat spicy and salty food lol. The dish has a mild spicy taste that is good enough for lunch. The sauce is savoury enough also π Sorry for the not-so-nice picture, because it’s usually a mad rush in the morning. Got no time to style it haha π Also fried an egg… Read More
Aglio Olio and Tom Yum Drumsticks
Rarely we have a free Saturday together. We did nothing except had breakfast, went for a baby shower, came back and cooked dinner π Appreciate weekends like this when we can just relax and do nothing. Mr Pau wanted to cook Aglio Olio tonight, and I offered to make Tom Yum drumsticks lol. Aglio OlioIngredients: (Serves 5)– 1 packet of spaghetti– 4 tbsp of olive oil – 15 to 20 cloves of garlic, minced – 1 can of button mushrooms, sliced– Shitake mushrooms (a bunch), sliced– A handful of cherry tomatoes (about 20), halved– 3 chili padi, sliced – Dash… Read More
Our Little Beanie :)
If you have followed me on Twitter and Instagram, you would know that we’re expecting a baby in Dec this year π I would think that this baby is a “lucky” baby because I have gotten quite a bit of invite after I knew I was pregnant. I managed to attend OMY’s Bugis Food Trail, went to Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery for kueh making, and was invited to some other events which I was not able to make it. And then I became 1 of the finalists for Best Cooking Blog with the Singapore Blog Awards by OMY.SG. Currently… Read More
Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery
Because I had been quite adventurous in the kitchen lately, I had been thinking of making kueh for the longest time. But the lack of experience and lengthy kueh making process made me procrastinate for a lonnnnnng lonnnnng time too. Hahaha. So, when I received an email from Gavan to visit Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery, I was so thrilled! I have always felt that some Singapore culture or heritage (especially food lol) should be preserved and passed on to the new generation. Probably because I work with kids, most of the time I observed them revolving their lives around… Read More
