Easy Chocolate Sauce Recipe
This homemade chocolate sauce can be made easily, anytime at home, with just 4 ingredients! You don’t even need milk or cream to make this. It is also not super sweet. I love its smooth and chocolatey taste!
What Ingredients Do I Need?
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: Since chocolate is the focus in this recipe, I like to use Valrhona cocoa powder for a richer taste. You can also use Hershey’s cocoa powder, which is more commonly seen in the supermarkets.
- Caster sugar
- Salt
- Water
- Vanilla extract: I like to use Nielsen-Massey vanilla extract for its pure taste. You can use any brand that you usually use.
How To Make Chocolate Sauce
Firstly, combine cocoa powder, sugar, water and salt in a saucepan. Stir the mixture and boil it over the stove on medium heat.
To avoid burning at the bottom of the saucepan, whisk constantly till you see the chocolate mixture thickens and starts to boil. You can lower the heat slightly, while continuing to stir for a few minutes longer. Once the chocolate sauce thickens to your liking, take the saucepan off from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the chocolate sauce into a heatproof container and let it cool completely before storing in the fridge.
How To Store The Chocolate Sauce
Once the chocolate sauce has cooled completely, store in airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. The recipe below makes a small batch of chocolate sauce, so you don’t need to worry about not able to finish it in time.
On the other hand, if you need larger amount of the chocolate sauce, just click on the 2x / 3x to double or triple the batch.
