These easy air-fried mayonnaise pineapple prawns are tossed in tangy, creamy mayonnaise sauce. Serve together with pineapple cubes for a refreshing appetizer!
Most of the dishes served during the Chinese New Year would include more “expensive” ingredients, such as fish, prawns, abalone etc.
As I was gifted some goodies from Kewpie Singapore, which included a bottle of mayonnaise, I was wondering what I can make with it for Chinese New Year.
Then I recalled whenever we attended wedding banquets, there would always be this delicious cold platter served before main course. One of my favourite appetizers on the platter would be the prawn salad.
So I decided to try making this prawn salad to make it more suitable for Chinese New Year lunches or dinners.
How Can I Make This Appetizer?
These mayonnaise pineapple prawns are really easy to make!
Firstly, clean the prawns and remove the shells. I left the tails intact so they look nicer.
Then add in some salt, pepper and oil to marinate the prawns. When it is time to cook, coat the prawns with beaten egg and drench in cornstarch.
Cook the prawns in air fryer (or deep fry) before tossing them with the prepared mayonnaise sauce and pineapples cubes. This delicious appetizer is ready to be served!

What Are the Ingredients Needed for the Mayonnaise Prawns?
- Prawns: I used tiger prawns in this recipe.
- Canned Pineapple Slices
- Seasoning: Salt, Pepper, Oil
- Coating: Egg, Cornstarch
- Sauce: Kewpie Mayonnaise, Lemon Juice, Honey
How Do These Mayonnaise Pineapple Prawns Taste Like?
I like the slightly crispy coating on the prawns, and air frying them gives a crispy finish to this dish.
The creamy mayonnaise sauce has a refreshing tangy taste from the lemon juice, so it doesn’t make the dish too heavy.
For this appetizer, you can also tweak the mayonnaise sauce to your liking, by adding more honey or lemon juice.
