These easy air-fried mayonnaise pineapple prawns are tossed in tangy, creamy mayonnaise sauce. Serve together with pineapple cubes for a refreshing appetizer!
During Chinese New Year, most of the dishes during meal times would include slightly more “expensive” ingredients, such as fish, prawns, abalone etc.
As I was gifted some goodies from Kewpie Singapore, which included a bottle of mayonnaise, I was wondering what I can make with it, for Chinese New Year.
Then it came to my mind that, whenever we attend wedding banquets, there would always be this delicious cold platter served before main course. One of my favourite appetizers would be the prawn salad.
So I decided to add some tweaks to the prawn salad that makes it more suitable for Chinese New Year lunches or dinners.

How Can I Make This Appetizer?
These mayonnaise pineapple prawns are really easy to make!
Firstly, you will just need to clean the prawns and remove the shells. I left the tails intact so that they look nicer. You can remove the tails if you prefer to.
Then we will be adding some salt, pepper and oil to marinate the prawns. When it is time to cook, coat the prawns with beaten egg and cornstarch.
Cook the prawns in air fryer (or deep fry) for a couple of mins. Coat them with the prepared mayonnaise sauce, toss with pineapples cubes, and they are ready to be served!

What Are the Ingredients Needed for the Mayonnaise Prawns?
- Prawns: I used tiger prawns in this recipe.
- Canned Pineapple Slices
- Seasoning: Salt, Pepper, Oil
- Coating: Egg, Cornstarch
- Sauce: Kewpie Mayonnaise, Lemon Juice, Honey
How Do These Mayonnaise Pineapple Prawns Taste Like?
I like the slightly crispy coating on the prawns, and air frying them gives a more fragrant seafood taste to this dish.
The mayonnaise sauce is also slightly creamy, with a refreshing tangy taste from the lemon juice.
I don’t think we need much introduction to Kewpie mayonnaise – it is always our preferred choice for mayonnaise! We enjoy Kewpie mayonnaise more, as it has a rich egg flavor, and a slightly sweeter and creamier taste.
For this appetizer, you can also tweak the mayonnaise sauce to your liking, such as adding more honey or lemon juice.
P.S.: Do you know Kewpie has various flavored mayonnaise and dressing? They also have this small ready-to-go mayonnaise packets!

Notes
If you do not have air-fryer, you can deep fry the prawns for 1-3 mins.
I’ve used 1 tsp of honey and 2 tsp of lemon juice here. You can tweak the amount of honey and lemon juice according to your taste preference.
I’ll recommend you to add in 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of lemon juice first. Taste and check if you prefer a sweeter or more tangy taste. Do note that the sauce should taste more sourish on its own; the sour taste will tone down after tossing with prawns.
