Nanxiang specialises in Shanghainese xiao long bao, and they offer 8 unique flavours of xiao long bao! We managed to sample the Crab Roe xiao long bao. And of course, how can we forget about the award-winning King Size Crab Roe Steam Soup Bun?! ;p
We started off with this cold dish, also their signature.
I remembered in one of my jobs, on my last day, my ex-boss treated me to lunch here. And I really like their hot & sour soup and fried rice 🙂
Lately I had very sensitive taste towards meat, and I was glad that I enjoyed the meat here.
The meat was lean, the bun was filled with sufficient broth. I also like the xiao long bao’s skin – not too thin, not too thick.
when you are drinking from the straw though. I burnt my tongue lol.
Except that it’s a little starchy and the mee sua breaks easily.
Then again, what’s mee sua without the starchy soup right lol.
The meat is silky smooth, with a chewy texture. I guess I would like it better if the meat
texture wasn’t so smooth.
Review: Nanxiang is the to-go restaurant if you want Shanghainese fare, like the hot & sour soup and xiao long bao. I don’t really appreciate Ding Tai Fung’s xlb, but I quite like Nanxiang’s. Great for family lunches too 🙂
